STAGES is a youth theatre company for ages 7-18 responsible for the production of 6 plays and musicals each year.

Building from the strong foundations of CAST, STAGES is a very open and welcoming community and has served as a ‘second home’ to many Stagers and staff.

1st/2nd STAGERS

Do your children like to sing or dance? Are they dramatic and bursting with energy? Are they shy and need a bit of a confidence boost?

Then our Saturday morning programming is for them! 1st Stagers is perfect for young people in grades 2-6.

2nd Stagers is perfect for young people in grades 7-9. Being in either 1st or 2nd Stagers is a true introduction to performing and what it means to be part of a community. Although the result of each session is a high-quality play or musical, the learning and personal growth that we see in our performers throughout the process is what is most important.  There are two sessions each year and registration is always open! Anyone is welcome to register, and everyone gets a part!  Fall Session: September – January Spring Session: January – May  Both groups meet simultaneously every Saturday morning from 9:30am-12:30pm with the exception of holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and March Break). Performances are presented as “Double Features” with the 1st Stagers presenting their play or musical first, followed by an intermission, and the 2nd Stagers play or musical to close the evening.  One session requires a participation fee of $375 with a non-refundable deposit of $50. Participating in BOTH sessions requires a fee of $700 with the same non-refundable deposit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What days and times do rehearsals happen?
Mondays and Tuesdays, 4:00pm-7:00pm.

When do rehearsals begin?
Rehearsals for The Spongebob Musical begin Monday January 13th, 2025.

Is there a program fee?
Yes. To participate in Senior Company, there is a program fee of $850. This works out to about $25/rehearsal or $170/month. A $50 non-refundable fee will be required upon acceptance into the program. The remaining $800 can be paid all at once, or over time, as long as the full fee is paid by opening night. We accept cash, cheque, Interac and VISA at our Box Office.

Why is it so expensive?
Licensing a show and the associated production costs are very expensive and we like to present top quality musical theatre to our community! Senior Company is proud to pay their team members for their time and expertise, and also hires musicians to play live for the production. If you need financial assistance, we are happy to present you with options.

What if I have to miss a rehearsal?
Attendance is incredibly important and missing rehearsals, arriving late, and/or leaving early affects the entire production. If you miss a rehearsal/part of a rehearsal, there is a very high chance you will be removed from the song/dance/scene being worked on that day. Missing multiple rehearsals could result in being removed entirely from the show. Participants should consider other extracurricular activity schedules before committing to Senior Co. Part-time jobs must be informed of rehearsal and production dates and times. Missing rehearsal due to illness is acceptable as long as it is communicated ahead of time to the Stage Manager.

Do you rehearse on holidays?
We do NOT rehearse on Family Day, throughout March Break, or on Easter Monday. Victoria Day Monday is reserved for rehearsal if needed.

When are the public performances?
The Spongebob Musical’s public performances will take place on Thursday May 22nd, Friday May 23rd, Saturday May 24th, Sunday May 26th, Thursday May 29th, Friday May 30th and Saturday May 31st.
