TW production of 1949 wins 5 awards at WODL Festival
Theatre Woodstock received 17 nominations and won 5 awards at the Western Ontario Drama League Awards Ball Saturday night in London at the conclusion of the week long Festival held at The Palace Theatre and hosted by London Community Players. Theatre Woodstock performed their production of 1949 by David French, March 16, 2005 at 8:00 p.m.
Award winners at last night's event were director Jennifer Paquette for her Direction in Allowing Silence on Stage, Vicki Jones for her Outstanding Acting Moment as Mary Mercer, Jason Paquette for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Major Role as Jacob Mercer, and Kiel Walker won both the award for Outstanding Performance by a Juvenile and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role as Ned Spencer.
Receiving nominations were Lucy Williams for Best Supporting Actress, Jennifer Paquette for Outstanding Direction, Vicki Jones as Best Actress, Andrew Norris as Best Supporting Actor, Rob Utting for his Outstanding Cameo Appearance, and the entire cast was nominated for Outstanding Ensemble Work. The production team headed by Lori Maloney Young and Elly Wijnker, received nominations for Best Coordinated Production, Best Visual Production, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Outstanding Set Construction, Outstanding Use of Music for Dramatic Effect and Best Production in Festival.
The production which will represent Western Ontario at the Theatre Ontario Festival in May is Theatre Burlington's production of Vigil by Morris Panych.
